MITT's English Language Institute is committed to providing a fulfilling language learning experience. Whether a student needs short-term, long-term, professional, general, or academic language education, our English Language Institute offers a wide range of student-centered English language programs.

International applicants who have not met English language proficiency requirements may apply to be assessed and/or enroll in language training at MITT. For more details, please see MITT's English Language Proficiency Requirements.

MITT's English Language Institute is accredited by Languages Canada, Canada’s premier language organization. Membership is limited to programs from the public and private sectors that meet the rigorous standards of the association. Languages Canada represents over 225 language education programs and is recognized by the Canadian government and internationally. Program information

English for Academic Purposes: 
Academic English for College Entrance

This program helps International Students reach their language proficiency needs for college admission as well as everyday life in an English environment. Program highlights include:

  • Multiple program start dates throughout the year
  • Clear skills alignment for admission to MITT post-secondary programs
  • Five levels of English classes*
  • 23 hours of instruction per week
  • Socio-cultural activities included at no extra cost
  • Textbooks distributed in class - no need to go to the bookstore!

Culturally diverse, small class sizes with students from around the world.

*Seats are limited in Level 5. Priority is given to students who require Level 5 for admissions to an MITT post-secondary program. Seats may be open to additional students once all priority students have received seat offers (usually 30 days prior to the start of the intake). A foundations-level course will be added starting in September, 2020 which will be 6 weeks in length for students who are not ready for Level 1.

*Starting September 2020: Course length for Levels 1-4 will be changing from 10 weeks to 12 weeks.  The tuition fee is subject to change. There will no longer be a $100 text book fee. 

FEES: Starting September 1, 2019 there will be a $100 textbook fee for Levels 1-4. There will also be a new $50 bursary fee charged to all English for Academic Purposes students. This fee will be charged only one time per student during their ELI studies.
