Sponsorship and Funding
Being able to afford full-time studies should not be a barrier to success at MITT!
There are a number of public and government agencies who provide funding and sponsorship for education and re-training. In addition to student loans, bursaries and scholarships, you may be eligible for education funding from the agencies in the links below.
We strongly encourage future and current MITT students to research and contact every agency where you meet some or all of the funding criteria.
Sponsors and Funders
Employment Insurance (EI) – If you are currently on EI you may be eligible to receive funding for training at MITT.
Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) – Students currently on EIA may have access to extra support to help them return to school through the Get Ready! employment program.
Manitoba Economic Development and Training – Full list of locations depending on region, for students who have not been on EI.
Apprenticeship Grants and Incentives – Non-repayable grants for apprentices in Red Seal trades.
Lifelong Learning Plan – Allows you to withdraw from RRSP’s to fund your education.
Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) Sponsorship – Métis, Non-Status Indian & Inuit students are eligible for sponsorship to cover tuition and living allowance. To apply for sponsorship complete the MMF's Intake Form and submit it to MET@mmf.mb.ca.

Futures Forward Youth-In-Care Tuition Waiver – If you are a current or former youth in care, you may be eligible for a tuition waiver for you MITT program and other funding for your living costs.
Indigenous Services Canada – Financial support for Indigenous post-secondary students. There are 2 funding streams available:
- First Nations students accessing band/tribal council funding may apply for Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP) and Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET).
- Manitoba Métis Citizens, Inuit who reside in MB, and non-status first nations residents may apply for Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) through the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF)
- Find your local ISET delivery organization
Indspire Indigenous Education Awards – MITT is a proud Indspire donor and supports four $2500 awards each year for Indigenous post-seconcary students.
